What we are doing

Partial footpath and cycle lane closure on Hampstead Road, north of Robert Street – 11 to 15 May

We previously informed you that these works will start on 11 May. The work will now begin on 26 May. We will dig a trial hole in the western footpath on Hampstead Road, north of Robert Street. We will partially close the footpath and cycle lane, and pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted around the closure. We’ll hand dig, survey, and reinstate the area. We expect these works to be completed by 29 May. We apologise for the inconvenience these works may cause.

Works by utility service provider in Euston Approaches

Various utility service providers are currently working within our site, as well as on Hampstead Road, Lidlington Place and Stanhope Street to complete the final connections and energise their networks. UK Power Networks (UKPN) will be working in the southbound carriageway and the southbound footpath on Hampstead Road, opposite Varndell Street, from 4 May to 5 June Pedestrians will be diverted across to the western footpath.

As part of this work, from 1 June to 12 June, UK Power Networks will be working on Stanhope Street. We’ll close a section of the southbound lane on Stanhope Street at junction with Varndell Street. During these works Varndell Street will be closed, with traffic diverted via Harrington Street, Mackworth Street and Stanhope Street. We’ll suspend parking bays on Varndell Street and Stanhope Street during these works. We’ll maintain access to properties at all times.

Southbound cycle lane and footpath closure on Hampstead Road, south of Cardington Street – 4 May onwards

In preparation for Mace Dragados’ (MDjv) Western Utility Road programme, which will run parallel to Hampstead Road (within site), we need to construct British Telecommunications (BT) chambers in the southbound cycle lane and footpath. We’ll start these works on 4 May and will continue until October 2026. Cyclists and pedestrians will be diverted around the closure. We apologise for the inconvenience these works may cause.

HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
