What we are doing
Please see updated schedule of works at the Mandeville Road Vent Shaft site.
Working hours: 24 hours a day, Monday to Friday
- We are building reinforced concrete walls at the bottom of the main shaft, 23 metres below ground. Ongoing until 31 October 2026.
Working hours: 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 1pm Saturdays. On some Saturdays we may work extended hours until 5pm
- We are continuing to build the headhouse, including concrete work, steel frame and external works – landscaping. Ongoing until December 2027.
- Badminton Close in use as the only site access. Ongoing until May 2027.
- Sewer works at the previous site entrance on Mandeville Road. Ongoing until 30 November 2026.
You may experience some noise from crane movement and site activities. There will be overnight works in the shaft, and site lighting will be visible at surface level.
We will use noise reducing barriers, and damp down dust where possible.
We apologise for any disruption these works may cause.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
