What we are doing

We need to protect and divert utility services beneath Parkway junction and in the surrounding area before we begin tunnelling. From February to October, we will carry out utility works on the sewers, water mains and power cables on Parkway, Albert Street and Delancey Street. In autumn 2026, we will return to Parkway to complete protective works to the Cadent Gas main.
We’ll carry out the work in phases on Parkway and Delancey Street. We’ll require lane and footpath closures and parking bay suspensions in these areas. The duration of works have been extended until July as we’ve experienced delays to the programme due to the need to install additional cable ducts on Delancey Street. Please see below updated programme of works.

Parkway, close to Park Village East

  • Phase 1 – 16 March to 15 May. We will close the section of the southbound lane and footpath on Parkway, close to the junction with Park Village East.
  • Phase 2 – 12 June to late 24 July. We will close the section of the southbound lane and footpath on Parkway, close to the junction with Park Village East. There will be no right-turn from Parkway onto Prince Albert Road. Traffic will be diverted via Gloucester Avenue, Regents Park Road and St. Marks Square.

Delancey Street, junction with Mornington Terrace

  • Phase 1 – 16 March to 15 May. Works are in the southern lane of Delancey Street. The road will be closed at the junction of Delancey Street and Mornington Terrace. We’ll continue to suspend the bus stop. Passengers will need to use bus stop CT on Delancey Street between Albert Street and Arlington Road. Traffic will be diverted via Mornington Street, Albert Street and Delancey Street.Phase 2 – 18 May to 24 July. Works are in the northern lane on Delancey Street. The bus stop will remain in the temporary location until we complete works in June.

We apologise for the inconvenience these works may cause.

Utility trial holes (gas main) on Parkway – 30 March to 12 June

We’ll continue with trial hole works on Delancey Street close to the junction of Parkway. There is no left turn onto Parkway from Delancey Street during these works. Traffic is diverted via Gloucester Avenue, Regents Park Road, St Mark’s Square, Prince Albert Road and back onto Parkway or Gloucester Gate bridge. We previously informed you that we will complete these trial holes on 24 April, due to delays in our programme, we now expect to complete by 1 May.

On 26 May we’ll carry out trial hole surveys to help inform the design of the gas works. We’ll close a lane and partially close the footpath on Parkway north of Delancey Street and dig a trial hole, carry out the survey and reinstate the area. We expect these works to take three weeks to complete.

We’ll provide more information on the Cadent Gas works closer to the time.

HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
