Update – Utility works around Parkway – February to October 2026

We need to protect and divert utility services beneath Parkway junction and in the surrounding area before the tunnel boring machine passes beneath. In February we started our utility works on the sewers, water mains and power cables on Parkway, Albert Street and Delancey Street. We expect to complete these works in October 2026. In autumn 2026, we’ll return to Parkway to complete protective works to the Cadent Gas main.  

The installation and removal of traffic management (TM) on the highway is subject to 24hrs/7-days working arrangements to allow for maintenance and any necessary changes to the traffic management setup. This is also a safety requirement to ensure the works can be carried out safely and efficiently during these periods.

We previously informed you On 24 August we’ll return to continue with diverting a section of the UK Power Networks cable route and complete trial hole surveys on Delancey Street. These works are now planned to start on the 1 September. We’ll work in the southern lane of Delancey Street and close the road at the junction of Delancey Street and Mornington Terrace. We’ll also close a small section of the footpath on Delancey street, pedestrians will be diverted around the closure. Traffic will be diverted via Mornington Street, Albert Street and Delancey Street. We’ll also suspend parking bays in this area. Bus stop CU will be suspended. We expect to complete these works by 25 September.
