What we are doing

We need to protect and divert utility services beneath Parkway junction and in the surrounding area before we begin tunnelling. From February to October, we will carry out utility works on the sewers, water mains and power cables on Parkway, Albert Street and Delancey Street. In autumn 2026, we will return to Parkway to complete protective works to the Cadent Gas main. We’ll carry out the work in phases on Parkway and Delancey Street. We’ll require lane and footpath closures and parking bay suspensions in these areas.

The duration of works have been extended as we’ve experienced delays to the programme due to the need to install additional cable ducts on Delancey Street.

Parkway, close to Park Village East

  • Phase 1 – 16 March to 16 May – completed.
  • Phase 2 – 15 June to end July. We will close the section of the southbound lane and footpath on Parkway, close to the junction with Park Village East. There will be no right-turn from Parkway onto Prince Albert Road. Traffic will be diverted via Gloucester Avenue, Regents Park Road and St. Marks Square.

Delancey Street, junction with Mornington Terrace

  • Phase 1 – 16 March to 26 May. We’ll continue working in the southern lane of Delancey Street. We expect to complete a section of these works by 16 May, which will allow us to open the junction of Mornington Terrace, and reopen bus stop CU on Delancey Street. We’ll continue works on Delancey Street west of Mornington Terrace, we expect these works to be completed by 26 May.
  • Phase 2 – 26 May to 31 July. Works are in the northern lane on Delancey Street. We’ll continue to suspend the bus stop. Passengers will need to use bus stop CT on Delancey Street between Albert Street and Arlington Road.

Utility trial holes (gas main) on Parkway – 1 June to 12 June

We’ll continue with trial hole works to help inform the design of the gas works on Delancey Street close to the junction of Parkway.

On 1 June we’ll carry out trial hole surveys in the southern footpath on Delancey Street close to the junction of Parkway. We’ll provide sufficient space on the footpath for pedestrians. We expect these works to be complete by 9 June.
On 10 June we’ll carry out trial hole surveys on Parkway. We’ll close a lane and partially close the footpath on Parkway north of Delancey Street and dig a trial hole, carry out the survey and reinstate the area. We expect these works to be complete by 19 June.

The installation and removal of traffic management (TM) on the highway is subject to 24hrs/7 days working arrangements to allow for maintenance and any necessary changes to the traffic management setup. This is also a safety requirement to ensure the work can be carried out safely and efficiently during these periods.

We apologies for inconvenience above works may cause.

HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
