Students will design a new product to improve customer experience when travelling by train. First students will explore the views and needs of customers and rail staff, to come up with an innovative idea. Then students will develop their idea into an annotated final design and model, to be presented as a pitch.

Learning objectives:

Students will learn to:

  • Use research and exploration to identify a design problem and user needs.
  • Develop a design specification.
  • Communicate design ideas using annotated sketches, models and an oral presentation.

Students will use the Essential Skills of creativity, speaking and teamwork.

Delivery notes:

This project will take about 5 hours to complete.

Students will need tools and materials for drawing and modelling.
