Leadership
HS2 is Britain’s new high-speed railway connecting London and Birmingham. Our British-built bullet trains will create capacity, or space, on the congested network, providing faster, zero carbon journeys between our two largest cities. Services will continue to Manchester, the North West and Scotland using the conventional railway network, cutting journey times.
HS2 Ltd has been established by the Department for Transport (DfT) to develop, build and bring into service High Speed Two (HS2), a high-speed railway linking London and the West Midlands, allowing services to connect to the existing rail network to serve destinations further north. HS2 Ltd is responsible for designing, constructing and managing HS2’s infrastructure, with a connection to the West Coast Main Line at Handsacre, near Lichfield, Staffordshire.

HS2 Ltd Board
The HS2 Ltd Board members typically meet on a monthly basis. Their role is to ensure effective governance of the company, making timely decisions and managing risk effectively. They shape, challenge, and direct the company’s agenda to deliver stated priorities. The Board monitors performance and risk, making choices—or recommendations to ministers—on our risk appetite, which is the amount and type of risk we are willing to take to meet our strategic objectives. It also oversees healthy relations with our stakeholders and commercial partners.
Corporate reports, board minutes and audit committee minutes can be found on the HS2 section of GOV.UK. This will continue in line with government policy on publishing corporate information.
