Update: Next phases of utility works in Victoria Road

What we are doing

Tunnel Boring Machine power supply works
In February of this year, we wrote to you outlining our phased programme of works for the tunnel boring machine power supply along Victoria Road. The power supply works which started at Atlas Road roundabout junction with Victoria Road is now complete and the works moving south along Victoria Road, close to Tudor House will be completed by the end of June. On completion, our programme will continue along Victoria Road in the opposite side of the road, starting with the junction of Midland Terrace followed by the junction with Shaftesbury Gardens.

Victoria Road junction Midland Terrace, Late June– Late July 2021
These works will commence from the end of June for a period of four weeks. Two-way traffic lights will be in place to maintain traffic flow.  Access into Midland Terrace will be maintained with a diversion via Shaftesbury Gardens. Please see the map below.

Victoria Road junction with Shaftesbury Gardens, Early August – Early September 2021

These works will be carried out from early August, over a six-week period. Work will be carried out in Victoria Road on the southbound carriageway, adjacent to Shaftesbury Gardens. Two-way traffic lights will be in place to maintain traffic flow. Access into Shaftesbury Gardens will be maintained with a diversion via Midland Terrace. Please see map below.

Victoria Road in proximity to Midland Terrace to Chandos Road Junction, beginning September – Mid October 2021
These works will be carried out from the beginning September for a period of six weeks. Two-way traffic lights will be in place to maintain traffic flow. There will be parking bays suspensions on the southern side of Chandos Road.

Victoria Road (close to Braitrim House and School Road)

This section of the power supply works started in mid-May and will be completed in early November. These works are currently in progress in the northbound carriageway of Victoria Road adjacent the Victoria Crossover box site. The second part will be in the southbound carriageway adjacent to Victoria Crossover box site up to the Chandos Road Junction. Two-way traffic lights will be in place to maintain traffic flow.

Bus stop Suspensions
During these works, bus stops will be suspended Shaftesbury Gardens (Stops D and V). Where possible we will relocate suspended bus stops to a new temporary location close by, however it is not always possible due to the distance between stops and other highway restrictions.
