What we are doing

Further information about shuttle bus service during road closure from 24 to 27 September 2021

We recently notified you about a weekend road closure on Victoria Road from 24 to 27 September 2021. The road closure will be in place while we install a conveyor crossing over Victoria Road and the railway tracks at Dudding Hill Bridge.

We will use a crane to lift the conveyor crossing into place over the road and railway tracks – this will take place in two phases. For safety reasons, we will need to temporarily close the pedestrian footway on both sides of Victoria Road between Chandos Road and Midland Terrace, while the crane is lifting the conveyor crossing into place. A signed pedestrian diversion will be in place.

We will also be providing a free shuttle service for local residents and pedestrians to use during the footway closures.

The shuttle service is planned to operate at the following times:
• From 1:30am to 6:30am on Saturday 25 September
• From 11:30am until 11:30pm on Saturday 25 September
The shuttle service will travel from:
• Midland Terrace / Shaftesbury Gardens to Chandos Road / Victoria Road
• Chandos Road / Victoria Road to Midland Terrace / Shaftesbury Gardens

The map on the following page shows where you can catch the shuttle service. Traffic marshalls will be on site to assist pedestrians and guide you to the shuttle service. Please note, you may have to wait a few minutes while the shuttle is in transit.

There will be no other destinations covered by this arrangement and you will need to arrange your own onwards journeys if required. We will reopen Victoria Road to vehicles and pedestrians as soon as possible.
