Stewart Jackson

Biography

Stewart Jackson was appointed as the independent HS2 Residents’ Commissioner in April 2022, succeeding Deborah Fazan. Stewart has considerable experience of public service, having been a local councillor in West London, a Member of Parliament, a front bench spokesman, a Whip, Parliamentary aide to two Cabinet ministers and a Special Adviser at the Department for Exiting the European Union, as well as a former adjunct associate professor of British Politics at the American University at Richmond and a Vice President of the Local Government Association.

Prior to his move into public life, Stewart worked in retail and business banking with Lloyds TSB and was a Business Services Manager with a training and enterprise council and Business Link respectively.

He graduated from Royal Holloway College, University of London, with a degree in Economics and Public Administration and he also has a Masters degree from the University of West London in Human Resource Management. He is a Graduate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Stewart has lived in Peterborough since 2005 and was the City’s MP for 12 years.
