Job description:

The Skid Steer Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of skid steer loaders to support earthworks, material handling, and site preparation on the HS2 project. Duties include moving materials, assisting with loading and unloading, maintaining stockpiles, and supporting general site works as required. Operators must complete daily machine checks, carry out basic maintenance, and promptly report any defects.

The role requires strict compliance with HS2 health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as effective coordination with supervisors, engineers, and other operatives. Strong awareness of working safely around plant, vehicles, and ground staff is essential to ensure productive and compliant operations.

Candidate description:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Skid Steer Operator with a proven background in construction, civil engineering, or large-scale infrastructure projects. They will hold a valid CPCS/NPORS Skid Steer ticket and be confident in operating safely in busy, high-traffic environments. Previous experience on major projects such as highways, rail, or large-scale earthworks is highly desirable.

The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance, with an understanding of the high standards required on HS2.
